221:放光品第一

聞如是:一時佛在羅閱祇耆闍崛山中,與大比丘眾五千人俱,皆是阿羅漢——諸漏已盡,意解無垢,眾智自在已了眾事,譬如大龍所作已辦,離於重擔逮得所願,三處已盡正解已解。

222:光讚品第一

聞如是:一時佛遊羅閱祇耆闍崛山中,與摩訶比丘僧五千俱,皆阿羅漢也——諸漏已盡,無有塵垢,而得自在;心安解脫,智慧善度,逮得仁和,為大開導;所作已辦,所設究竟,棄捐重擔,逮得己利,除終始患;平等解脫,濟一切想,得度無極——唯除一人賢者阿難,學須陀洹。

223:序品第一

如是我聞:一時佛住王舍城耆闍崛山中,共摩訶比丘僧大數五千分,皆是阿羅漢——諸漏已盡無復煩惱,心得好解脫、慧得好解脫,其心調柔軟摩訶那伽,所作已辦,棄擔能擔逮得己利,盡諸有結,正智已得解脫——唯阿難在學地得須陀洹。

220:第二分緣起品

如是我聞:一時,薄伽梵住王舍城鷲峯山中,與大苾芻眾五千人俱,皆阿羅漢,諸漏已盡無復煩惱,得真自在心善解脫、慧善解脫,如調慧馬亦如大龍,已作所作已辦所辦,棄諸重擔逮得己利,盡諸有結正知解脫,至心自在第一究竟,除阿難陀獨居學地得預流果,具壽善現而為上首。

Thus have I heard at one time. The Lord dwelt at Rajagriha, on the Vulture Peak, together with a large gathering of monks, with 1250 monks, all of the Arhats – their outflows dried up, undefiled, fully controlled, quite freed in their hearts, well freed and wise, thoroughbreds, great Serpents, their work done, their task accomplished, their burden laid down, their own weal accomplished, with the fetters that bound them to becoming extinguished, their hearts well freed by right understanding, in perfect control of their whole minds –

221:復有五百比丘尼,諸優婆塞、優婆夷,諸菩薩摩訶薩——已得陀隣尼空行三昧,無相、無願藏;已得等忍,得無罣礙陀隣尼門;悉是五通。所言柔軟無復懈怠,已捨利養無所希望,逮深法忍得精進力,已過魔行度於死地;所教次第,

222:復與五百比丘俱,及比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷皆悉現在;并諸菩薩摩訶薩——得諸總持逮成三昧,修于空行尊於無想,不念眾願以得等忍,制覽無數皆得五通;所言聰捷無有懈怠,蠲捨家利所慕之心,所說經法不僥供養,致深妙法度於無極,得無所畏超越魔事,脫於一切陰蓋之礙,講諸因緣;

223:復有五百比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷等,皆得聖諦。復有菩薩摩訶薩——皆得陀羅尼及諸三昧行,空、無相、無作,已得等忍、得無閡陀羅尼,悉是五通,言必信受無復懈怠,已捨利養名聞,說法無所悕望,度深法忍得無畏力,過諸魔事,一切業障悉得解脫。巧說因緣法。

220:復有五百苾芻尼眾皆阿羅漢,尊者持譽而為上首。復有無量鄔波索迦、鄔波斯迦皆已見諦。復有無量無數菩薩摩訶薩眾,一切皆得諸陀羅尼及三摩地,常居空住,行無相境,無分別願恒現在前,於諸法性具平等忍,得無礙辯不退神通,言行清高翹勤匪懈,演暢正法無所希求,應理稱機離諸矯誑,於深法忍到究竟趣,斷諸怖畏降伏眾魔,滅一切惑摧諸業障,智慧辯才善巧具足,

With 500 nuns, laymen, and laywomen, all of them liberated in this present life –And with hundreds of thousands of niyutas of kotis of Bodhisattvas – (1) all of whom had acquired the Dharanis; (2) dwellers in emptiness, their sphere in the sign-less, who had not fashioned any desire for the future; (3) who had acquired sameness and patience186; (4) who had acquired the Dharani of nonattachment; (5) who had imperishable super-knowledges; (6) were of acceptable speech; (7) not tricksters; (8) not chatterers; (9) with thoughts that had left behind all desire for reputation and gain; (10) disinterested demonstrators of the spiritual dharma; (11) ready to accept deep dharmas without reserve; (12) who had obtained the grounds of self-confidence; (13) had transcended Mara’s deeds; (14) were free from obstacles caused by their (past) deeds; (15) and skilful in expounding the analysis of investigations into dharmas;

221:於阿僧祇劫順本所行,所作不忘;顏色和悅,常先謙敬所語不麤;於大眾中所念具足,於無數劫堪任教化,所說如幻、如夢、如響、如光、如影、如化、如水中泡、如鏡中像、如熱時炎、如水中月,常以此法用悟一切;

222:心志所趣,從無數劫精進行願,其意所向,喜悅問訊常先於人,離於結恨;入於無數眾會之中,威勢巍巍無所畏難,憶念無量姟劫之事;若說經法曉練眾義,猶如幻、化、野馬、水月、夢與影、響,若鏡中像,勇猛無侶;

223:從阿僧祇劫以來發大誓願,顏色和悅,常先問訊,所語不麁,於大眾中而無所畏。無數億劫說法巧出,解了諸法如幻、如焰、如水中月、如虛空、如響、如揵闥婆城、如夢、如影、如鏡中像、如化,得無閡無所畏。

220:已無數劫大誓莊嚴,含笑先言舒顏和視,讚頌美妙辯說無窮,威德尊嚴處眾無畏,氣調閑雅進趣合儀,巧演如流多劫無盡;善觀諸法皆同幻事、陽焰、夢境、水月、響聲,亦如空花、鏡像、光影,又等變化及尋香城,知皆無實唯現似有;心不下劣無畏泰然,一切法門皆能悟入;

(16) who had formed their vows incalculable aeons ago; (17) who address others with smiling countenances; (18) without a frown on their faces; (19) skilful in songs, chants and benedictions; (20) with thoughts free from sluggishness; (21) with their flashes of ideas uninterrupted; (22) endowed with self-confidence when engaged in overpowering endless assemblies; (23) skilled in going forth during endless kotis of aeons; (24) resolutely intent on dharmas which they held to be like an illusion, a mirage, a reflection of the moon in water, a dream, an echo, an apparition, an image in the mirror, a magical creation; (P5)

sattvagaticaritasūkṣmanānādhimuktyavatārakuśalair apratihatacittair adhimātrakṣāntisamanvāgatair yāthātmyāvatāraṇakuśalaiḥ sarvabuddhakṣetrānantavyūhapraṇidhānaprasthānaparigṛhītair asaṃkhyeyalokadhātubuddhānusmṛtisamāhitasatatasamitābhimukhībhūtair aparimitabuddhādhyeṣaṇakuśalair nānādṛṣṭyanuśayaparyavasthānakleśapraśamanakuśalaiḥ samādhivikrīḍitaśatasahasranirhārakuśalaiḥ.

221:悉知眾生意所趣向,能以微妙慧,隨其本行而度脫之;意無罣礙具足持忍,所入審諦,願攝無數無量佛國;無量諸佛所行三昧皆現在前;能請諸佛為一切說法;種種諸見離於所著,已遊戲於百千三昧而自娛樂;諸菩薩者德皆如是——

222:以微妙慧,知眾生心所起所行,超度分別,意不懷害,慇懃忍辱具足所行,曉了審諦所當度者,攝取佛土無限之願,常三昧定,目覩無數諸佛世界,暢達宜便,啟請無量諸佛世尊;進退能決若干種見所著之處,定意自娛解百千行,諸菩薩者德皆如是——

223:悉知眾生心行所趣,以微妙慧而度脫之。意無罣閡,大忍成就,如實巧度。願受無量諸佛國土,念無量國土諸佛三昧常現在前,能請無量諸佛。能斷種種見纏及諸煩惱,遊戲出生百千三昧——諸菩薩如是等種種無量功德成就,

220:有情勝解心行所趣,通達無礙而拔濟之;成最上忍善知實性,攝受大願無邊佛土;普於十方無數諸佛,等持正念常能現前;為度有情歷事諸佛,勸請久住轉正法輪;滅諸隨眠、見趣、纏垢,遊戲無量百千等持,引發無邊殊勝善法。是諸菩薩摩訶薩眾具如是等無量功德,

(25) skilful in understanding the destiny of beings, their subtle thoughts, their conduct and intentions187; (26) with unobstructed thoughts188; (27) endowed with extreme patience; (28) skilful in teaching others how to penetrate to the true character of reality; (29) acquiring through their vows and their setting-out the endless harmonies of all the Buddha-fields; (30) always face to face with the concentrated recollection of the Buddhas of countless world systems; (31) skilful in soliciting189 innumerable Buddhas; (32) skilful in appeasing the various views, biases, prepossessions, and defilements; (33) and in producing a hundred thousand concentrations and in playing with them.

tadyathā bhadrapālena ca bodhisattvena mahāsattvena ratnākareṇa ca sārthavāhena ca naradattena ca varuṇadattena ca śubhaguptena ca (psp1-1: 2) indradattena ca uttaramatinā ca viśeṣamatinā ca vardhamānamatinā ca amoghadarśinā ca susaṃprasthitena ca suvikrāntavikrāmiṇā ca nityodyuktena ca anikṣiptadhūreṇa ca sūryagarbheṇa ca anupamacintinā ca avalokiteśvareṇa ca mahāsthāmaprāptena ca mañjuśriyā ca vajramatinā ca ratnamudrāhastena ca nityotkṣiptahastena ca maitreyeṇa ca bodhisattvena mahāsattvena, evaṃ pramukhair anekair bodhisattvakoṭīniyutaśatasahasraiḥ sārdham.

221:其名曰護諸繫菩薩、寶來菩薩、導師菩薩、龍施菩薩、所受則能說菩薩、雨天菩薩、天王菩薩、賢護菩薩、妙意菩薩、有持意菩薩、增益意菩薩、現無癡菩薩、善發菩薩、過步菩薩、常應菩薩、不置遠菩薩、懷日藏菩薩、意不缺減菩薩、現音聲菩薩、哀雅威菩薩、寶印手菩薩、常舉手菩薩、慈氏菩薩,及餘億那術百千菩薩俱,盡是補處應尊位者。復有異菩薩無央數億百千,及諸尊者子皆悉來會。

222:其名曰颰陀和菩薩、羅隣那竭菩薩、摩訶須菩和菩薩、那羅達菩薩、嬌日兜菩薩、和輪調菩薩、因坻菩薩、賢守菩薩、妙意菩薩、持意菩薩、增意菩薩、不虛見菩薩、立願菩薩、周旋菩薩、常精進應菩薩、不置遠菩薩、日盛菩薩、無吾我菩薩、光世音菩薩、漸首菩薩、寶印首菩薩、常舉手菩薩、常下手菩薩、慈氏菩薩。諸菩薩眾如是難限,不可計數億百千姟一切妙德清淨同真。

223:其名曰颰陀婆羅菩薩、罽那伽羅菩薩、導師菩薩、那羅達菩薩、星得菩薩、水天菩薩、主天菩薩、大意菩薩、益意菩薩、增意菩薩、不虛見菩薩、善進菩薩、勢勝菩薩、常懃菩薩、不捨精進菩薩、日藏菩薩、不缺意菩薩、觀世音菩薩、文殊師利菩薩、執寶印菩薩、常舉手菩薩、彌勒菩薩,如是等無量百千萬億那由他諸菩薩摩訶薩。一切菩薩皆是補處,紹尊位者。

220:其名曰賢護菩薩、寶性菩薩、導師菩薩、仁授菩薩、星授菩薩、常授菩薩、德藏菩薩、上慧菩薩、寶藏菩薩、勝慧菩薩、增長慧菩薩、不虛見菩薩、善發趣菩薩、善勇猛菩薩、常精進菩薩、常加行菩薩、不捨軛菩薩、日藏菩薩、無比慧菩薩、觀自在菩薩、得大勢菩薩、妙吉祥菩薩、金剛慧菩薩、寶印手菩薩、常舉手菩薩、慈氏菩薩,如是等無量百千俱胝那庾多菩薩摩訶薩皆法王子,堪紹尊位而為上首。

They are the Bodhisattva Bhadrapala, the great being, the Bodhisattvas Ratnakara, Sarthavaha, Naradatta, Varunadatta, Subhagupta, Indradatta, Uttaramati, Visheshmati, Vardamanamati, Amoghadarsin, Susamprasthita, Suvikrantavikramin, Nityodyukta, Anikshiptadhura, Suryagarbha, Anupamacintin, Avalokitesvara, Mahasthamaprapta, Manjusri, Varamati, Ratnamudrahasta, Nityokshiptahasta and Maitreya the Bodhisattva, the great being, at the head of many hundred thousands of niyutas of kotis of Bodhisattvas.

atha khalu bhagavān svayam eva siṃhāsanaṃ prajñapya nyaṣīdat paryaṅkaṃ baddhvā ṛjukāyaṃ praṇidhāya abhimukhīṃ smṛtim upasthāpya samādhirājaṃ nāma samādhiṃ samāpadyate sma, yatra sarvasamādhayo 'ntargamān saṃgrahaṃ samavasaraṇaṃ gacchanti.

221:爾時世尊自敷高座結跏趺坐,正受定意三昧。其三昧名三昧王,一切三昧悉入其中。

222:爾時世尊,坐於自然師子床座而結加趺正身而處,心有所向、制立其意。有三昧名定意王,以時三昧自然正受,則皆普入一切定意,救攝平等,御而趣之。

223:爾時世尊自敷師子座,結跏趺坐,直身繫念在前,入三昧王三昧,一切三昧悉入其中。

220:爾時,世尊於師子座上,自敷尼師壇結跏趺坐,端身正願住對面念,入等持王妙三摩地,諸三摩地皆攝入此三摩地中,是所流故。

(I)Thereupon the Lord, having himself arranged the Lion Seat, sat down with his legs crossed; holding his body erect, intent on fixing his mindfulness, he entered into the concentration – “King of Concentrations” by name – in which all concentrations are included, comprehended and come to meet.

atha khalu bhagavān smṛtimān saṃprajānaṃs tasmāt samādher vyutthāya divyena cakṣuṣā sarvalokadhātuṃ vyavalokya sarvakāyāt smitam akarot, tasyādhastāt pādatalayoḥ sahasrābhyāṃ cakrābhyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭīraśmikoṭīniyutaśatasahasrāṇi niśceruḥ, daśabhyaḥ pādāṅgulibhyaḥ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭīraśmikoṭīniyutaśatasahasrāṇi niśceruḥ, evaṃ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭir gulphābhyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭir jaṅghābhyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭir jānumaṇḍalābhyām, evaṃ dvābhyām ūrubhyāṃ kaṭinābhimaṇḍalābhyāṃ dvābhyāṃ pārśvābhyāṃ hṛdayaśrīvatsān mahāpuruṣalakṣaṇāt, evaṃ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭir daśabhyo hastāṅgulibhyaḥ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭir dvābhyāṃ bāhubhyāṃ ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭir dvābhyām aṃśābhyām, evaṃ grīvāyāś catvāriṃśadbhyo dantebhyo dvābhyāṃ ghrāṇābhyāṃ dvābhyāṃ śrotrābhyāṃ dvābhyāṃ cakṣurbhyāṃ madhyād ūrṇāyā upariṣṭād uṣṇīṣāt ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭīraśmikoṭīniyutaśatasahasrāṇi niśceruḥ. yai raśmibhir ayaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātur avabhāsito 'bhūt parisphuṭaḥ, pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavas tena mahatā raśmyavabhāsena sphuṭā avabhāsitāś cābhūvan, evaṃ dakṣiṇasyāṃ diśi paścimāyām uttarasyām uttarapūrvasyāṃ pūrvadakṣiṇasyāṃ dakṣiṇapaścimāyāṃ paścimottarasyām adhastād upariṣṭād diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavas tena mahatā raśmyavabhāsena sphuṭā avabhāsitāś cābhūvan, ye ca sattvās tena mahatā raśmyavabhāsena sphuṭā avabhāsitās te sarve niyatā abhūvann anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau.

221:作是三昧已,持天眼觀視世界。爾時世尊放足下千輻相輪光明,從鹿腨腸上至肉髻,身中支節處處各放六十億百千光明,悉照三千大千國土無不遍者。其光明復照東方西方南方北方四維上下如恒邊沙諸佛國土;眾生之類其見光明者,畢志堅固,悉發無上正真道意。

222:佛適三昧其心安寂,而以道眼觀斯世界,其身湛然而笑,從其足心放六萬億百千光明,十足指放十億百千光明,兩脇放二億百千光明,兩膝放二億百千光明,兩腳放二億百千光明,兩肩放二億百千光明,兩肘放二億百千光明,臍放二億百千光明,頭放億百千光明,兩手指放十億百千光明,兩臂放二億百千光明,兩眉放二億百千光明,項放億百千光明,兩眼放二億百千光明,兩耳放二億百千光明,鼻放億百千光明,四面放四百億百千光明,四十齒放四十億百千光明,眉間相放億百千光明,頂結相放六萬億百千光明,照此三千大千世界無所不周,普曜東方江河沙等諸佛國土,南方西方北方四隅上下皆亦如是。其有眾生蒙值光明,心皆恬怕,悉發無上正真之道。

223:是時世尊從三昧安詳而起,以天眼觀視世界,舉身微笑,從足下千輻相輪中放六百萬億光明,足十指、兩踝、兩[-+]、兩膝、兩髀、腰脊腹脇背臍、心胸德字、肩臂手十指、項、口四十齒、鼻兩孔、兩眼、兩耳、白毫相、肉髻,各各放六百萬億光明。從是諸光出大光明,遍照三千大千國土;從三千大千國土,遍照東方如恒河沙等諸佛國土,南西北方四維上下亦復如是。若有眾生遇斯光者,必得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。光明出過東方如恒河沙等諸佛國土,南西北方四維上下亦復如是。

220:爾時,世尊正知正念,從等持王安庠而起,以淨天眼觀察十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界,舉身怡悅,從兩足下千輻輪相,各放六十百千俱胝那庾多光。從足十指,兩趺、兩跟。四踝、兩脛、兩腨、兩膝、兩髀、兩股、腰脇、腹背、臍中、心上、胸臆德字、兩乳、兩腋、兩肩、兩膊、兩肘、兩臂、兩腕、兩手、兩掌、十指、項胭、頤頷、頰額、頭頂、兩眉、兩眼、兩耳、兩鼻、口四牙、四十齒、眉間毫相,一一身分各放六十百千俱胝那庾多光。此一一光各照三千大千世界,從此展轉遍照十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界,其中有情遇斯光者,必得無上正等菩提。

Thereupon the Lord, mindful and self-possessed, emerging from this concentration, (P6) surveyed with the Heavenly Eye the entire world system. His whole body became radiant. From the wheels with a thousand spokes (imprinted) on the soles of his feet issued 60 hundred thousand niyutas of kotis of rays, and so from his ten toes, and similarly from his ankles, legs, knees, thighs, hips and navel, from his two sides, and from the sign “Srivatsa”190 on his chest, a mark of the Superman. Similarly from his ten fingers, his two arms, his two shoulders, from his neck, his forty teeth, his two nostrils, ears and eyes, from the hair-tuft in the middle between his eye-brows, and from the cowl on the top of his head. And through these rays this great trichiliocosm191 was illumined and lit up. And in the East world systems as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were, by this great illumination of rays, lit up and became illumined. So in the South, the West, the North, the North-East, the South-East, the South-West, the North-West, below and above. And the beings who were lit up and illumined by this great illumination of rays, they all became fixed on192 the utmost, right and perfect enlightenment. (P7)

atha khalu bhagavān punar eva sarvaromakūpebhyaḥ smitam akarot, ekaikataś ca romakūpāt ṣaṣṭiṣaṣṭīraśmikoṭīniyutaśatasahasrāṇi niśceruḥ, yair ayaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātur avabhāsitaḥ sphuṭo 'bhūt, taiś ca pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamāḥ sarvalokadhātavo 'vabhāsenāvabhāsitāḥ sphuṭāś cābhūvan, evaṃ dakṣiṇasyāṃ paścimāyām uttarasyām uttarapūrvasyāṃ pūrvadakṣiṇasyāṃ dakṣiṇapaścimāyāṃ paścimottarasyām adhastād upariṣṭād diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavo 'vabhāsenāvabhāsitāḥ sphuṭāś cābhūvan, tena ca raśmyavabhāsenaye sattvāḥ spṛṣṭās te sarve niyatā abhūvann anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau.

221:爾時世尊復放身毛,一一諸毛孔皆放光明,復照三千大千國土,復照十方無數恒邊沙國土;一切眾生見光明者,畢志發無上正真道意。

222:於是世尊即時欣笑,從諸毛孔放眾光明,照此三千大千世界,普遍十方無不周接。江河沙等諸佛世界,其有群萌,為光所照悉皆寂然,存于無上正真之道。

223:爾時世尊舉身毛孔皆亦微笑而放諸光,遍照三千大千國土,復至十方如恒河沙等諸佛國土。若有眾生遇斯光者,必得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。

220:爾時,世尊舉身毛孔皆悉熙怡,各出六十百千俱胝那庾多光,是一一光各照三千大千世界,從此展轉遍照十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界,其中有情遇斯光者,必得無上正等菩提。

(II) Thereupon all the Lord’s hair-pores became radiant, and from each single pore issued 60 hundred thousand of niyutas of kotis of rays through which this great trichiliocosm was illumined and lit up. And in the East world systems as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were, by this great illumination of rays, lit up and illumined. And so in the other nine directions. And the beings, who were lit up and illumined by this great illumination of rays, they all became fixed on the utmost, right and perfect enlightenment.

atha khalu bhagavān punar eva yā sā buddhānāṃ bhagavatāṃ prakṛtiprabhā tayā prabhayā trisāhasramahāsāhasraṃ lokadhātum avabhāsayāmāsa, yāvat sarvāsu daśasu dikṣu ekaikasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavas tayā prabhayā avabhāsitā abhūvan, ye ca sattvās tayā prabhayā spṛṣṭās te sarve niyatā abhūvann anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau.

221:世尊復以諸如來無所著等正覺法,放大光明,悉遍三千大千國土,復照十方無數恒邊沙國土;一切眾生見光明者,亦畢志發無上正真道意。

222:是時世尊則演如來清淨真妙志性光明,照此三千大千世界,普及十方各江河沙等諸佛國土,假令人民逮斯光者,則皆究竟至於無上正真之道。

223:爾時世尊以常光明遍照三千大千國土,亦至東方如恒河沙等諸佛國土,乃至十方亦復如是。若有眾生遇斯光者,必得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。

220:爾時,世尊演身常光照此三千大千世界,從此展轉遍照十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界,其中有情遇斯光者,必得無上正等菩提。

(III) Thereupon, the Lord again, with the natural splendour of the Buddhas, the Lords, illumined the great trichiliocosm. And so on, up to: In all the ten directions, in each single direction, world systems as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were illumined by His splendour. And the beings who were touched by this splendour, they were all fixed on the utmost, right and perfect enlightenment.

atha khalu bhagavāṃs tasyāṃ velāyāṃ jihvendriyaṃ nirṇāmayāmāsa, yenemaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasraṃ lokadhātuṃ jihvendriyeṇācchādayāmāsa, trisāhasramahāsāhasraṃ lokadhātuṃ jihvendriyeṇa sphuritvā tasmāj jihvendriyāt smitam akarot, yato 'nekāni raśmikoṭīniyutaśatasahasrāṇi niśceruḥ, raśmimukhe caikaikasminn uttamamayāni suvarṇanirbhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi padmāny utpannāny abhūvan, teṣu ca padmeṣu buddhavigrahā niṣaṇṇāḥ saṃsthitāś cābhūvan dharmaṃ deśayanto yad uta imām eva ṣaṭpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāṃ dharmadeśanām, te pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamavyativṛttāsaṃkhyeṣu lokadhātuṣu gatvā sattvānāṃ dharmaṃ deśayanti sma, evaṃ dakṣiṇasyāṃ paścimāyām uttarasyām adhastād ūrdhvaṃ digvidikṣu, ekaikasyāṃ ca diśi daśasu dikṣu gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu aparimāṇeṣu lokadhātuṣu gatvā sattvānāṃ dharmaṃ deśayanti sma, yad uta imām eva ṣaṭpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāṃ dharmadeśanām, ye ca sattvās tāṃ dharmadeśanāṃ śmvanti te niyatā bhavanty anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau.

221:爾時世尊出廣長舌,遍三千大千國土。遍已,從其舌根復放無央數億百千光明。一一光明化為千葉寶華,其色如金。一一華者上皆有坐佛,一一諸佛皆說六度無極。一切眾生聞說法者,皆發無上正真道意。其舌光明一一華像,復照十方恒邊沙國土;一切眾生見其光明、聞說法者,亦發無上正真道意。

222:於是世尊從其舌本悉覆佛土,而出無數億百千光明,照此三千大千世界,周遍十方各江河沙等諸佛國土。其光明中,自然而殖金寶蓮華,其蓮華上各有諸佛,結加趺坐寶蓮華,講說經法,演於六波羅蜜;十方一切亦復如是。若有眾生聞斯法講,一切究竟皆得堅住阿耨多羅三耶三菩。

223:爾時世尊出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千國土。熈怡微笑,從其舌根放無量千萬億光,是一一光化成千葉金色寶花。是諸花上皆有化佛,結跏趺坐說六波羅蜜。眾生聞者必得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。復至十方如恒河沙等諸佛國土皆亦如是。

220:爾時,世尊從其面門出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,熙怡微笑。復從舌相流出無量百千俱胝那庾多光,其光雜色,從此雜色一一光中現寶蓮花,其花千葉皆真金色眾寶莊嚴。如是光、花遍三千界,從此展轉周流十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界。諸花臺中皆有化佛,結跏趺坐演妙法音,一一法音皆說六種波羅蜜多相應之法,有情聞者必得無上正等菩提。

(IV) Thereupon the Lord on that occasion put out his tongue. With it he covered the great trichiliocosm193 and many hundreds of thousands of niyutas of kotis of rays issued from it. From each one of these rays there arose lotuses, made of the finest precious stones, of golden colour, and with thousands of petals; and on those lotuses there were, seated and standing, Buddha-frames194 demonstrating dharma, i.e. this very demonstration of dharma associated with the six perfections. They went in all the ten directions to countless world systems in each direction (P8), and demonstrated dharma to beings, i.e. this very demonstration of dharma associated with the six perfections. And the beings who heard this demonstration of dharma, they became fixed on the utmost, right and perfect enlightenment.

atha khalu bhagavāṃs tasminn eva siṃhāsane niṣaṇṇaḥ siṃhavikrīḍitaṃ nāma samādhiṃ samāpede, tathārūpaṃ carddhyabhisaṃskāram abhisaṃskaroti sma yathārūpeṇarddhyabhisaṃskāreṇābhisaṃskṛtenāyaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātuḥ ṣaḍvikāram akampata prākampata saṃprākampata, acalat prācalat saṃprācalat, avedhat prāvedhat saṃprāvedhat, araṇat prāraṇat saṃprāraṇat, akṣubhyat prākṣubhyat saṃprākṣubhyat, agarjat prāgarjat saṃprāgarjat, ante unnamati madhye avanamati, madhye unnamati ante avanamati, mṛdukaḥ snigdhaḥ sarvasattvasukhajanano 'bhūt.

atha khalu tena kṣaṇalavamuhūrtena ye 'smiṃs trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau nirayā vā tiryagyonayo vā yamalokā vā te sarve samucchinnāḥ śūnyā abhūvan, sarvākṣaṇāś cāstamitā abhūvan, ye ca sattvās tābhyo narakatiryagyoniyamalokagatibhyaś cyutās te sarve tenaiva prītiprāmodhyena manuṣyāṇāṃ sabhāgatāyām upapannāś cābhūvan, evaṃ cāturmahārājikānāṃ devānāṃ trayastriṃśānāṃ yāmānāṃ tuṣitānāṃ nirmāṇaratīnāṃ paranirmitavaśavartināṃ devānāṃ sabhāgatāyām upapannāś cābhūvan.

atha khalu te manuṣyās te ca devā bhagavata evānubhāvena pūrvajanmāny anusmaranti sma, anusmṛtya ca tenaiva prītiprāmodyena yena bhagavāṃs tenopasaṃkrāntāḥ, upasaṃkramya bhagavataḥ pādau śirobhir abhivandya bhagavantaṃ prāñjalayo bhūtvā namasyanti sma, evaṃ pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu dakṣiṇasyāṃ paścimāyām uttarasyāṃ vidikṣūrdhvam adhaḥ samantād daśasu dikṣv ekaikasmin digbhāge gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu sarve nirayāḥ sarvās tiryagyonayaḥ sarve yamalokāḥ samucchinnāḥ śūnyā abhūvan, sarvākṣaṇāś cāstamitā abhūvan, ye ca sattvās tābhyo nirayatiryagyoniyamalokagatibhyaś cyutās te sarve devamanuṣyeṣūpapadyante sma, te ca devamanuṣyeṣūpapannā bhagavata evānubhāvena pūrvanivāsam (psp1-1: 5) anusmaranti sma, anusmṛtya ca tenaiva prītiprāmodyena svakasvakeṣu buddhakṣetreṣu ye tatra buddhā bhagavanta utpannās teṣām antikān upasaṃkrāntāḥ, upasaṃkramya teṣāṃ buddhānāṃ bhagavatāṃ pādavandanāṃ kṛtvā sarve prāñjalayo bhūtvā bhagavato namasyanti sma.

221:是時世尊於師子座三昧,其三昧者名師子遊戲。身放神足,感動三千大千國土六反震動。三昧威神,令此三千大千國土地皆柔軟[-+][-+]踊沒。諸有地獄、餓鬼、蠕動之類,及八難處,皆悉解脫。得生天上,人中齊第六天。適生天上人中已皆大歡喜,即識宿命,來詣佛所稽首受法。如是十方恒邊沙國土,諸三惡趣及八難處亦離對苦,生天上人中齊第六天。適生歡喜亦識宿命,各各自至其國佛所,稽首受法。

222:於是世尊坐師子床,有三昧名師子娛樂,以斯定意自然正受,如其色像,咸演威曜示現神足。三千大千世界六反震動,邊際亦搖,中順至邊,安和柔軟,愍傷一切眾生之類,令獲安隱快樂無患。爾時三千大千世界地獄、餓鬼、畜生,諸不閑者、恐懅厄者,自然為斷三塗,除已悉自致來,得生為人、四天王、忉利天、鹽天、兜術天、尼摩羅天、波羅尼蜜天。於時諸天適生彼間人中天上,即識宿命,歡喜悅豫,往詣佛所,稽首足下叉手歸命,十方一切亦復如是,等無差特。

223:爾時世尊故在師子座入師子遊戲三昧,以神通力感動三千大千國土六種震動,東踊西沒、西踊東沒、南踊北沒、北踊南沒、邊踊中沒、中踊邊沒,地皆柔軟,令眾生和悅。是三千大千國土中地獄、餓鬼、畜生及八難處,即時解脫得生天上。從四天王天處乃至他化自在天處,是諸天人自識宿命,皆大歡喜來詣佛所。頭面禮佛足却住一面。如是十方如恒河沙等國土地皆六種震動,一切地獄、餓鬼、畜生及八難處即時解脫,得生天上齊第六天。

220:爾時,世尊不起于座,復入師子遊戲等持,現神通力,令此三千大千世界六種變動,謂:動、極動、等極動,踊、極踊、等極踊,震、極震、等極震,擊、極擊、等極擊,吼、極吼、等極吼,爆、極爆、等極爆。又令此界東踊西沒、西踊東沒、南踊北沒、北踊南沒、中踊邊沒、邊踊中沒。其地清淨光澤細軟,生諸有情利益安樂。時,此三千大千世界所有地獄、傍生、鬼界及餘無暇險惡趣坑,一切有情皆離苦難,從此捨命得生人中及六欲天,皆憶宿住,歡喜踊躍同詣佛所,以殷淨心頂禮佛足。從此展轉周遍十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界,以佛神力六種變動。時,彼世界諸惡趣等一切有情皆離苦難,從彼捨命得生人中及六欲天,皆憶宿住,歡喜踊躍各於本界同詣佛所頂禮佛足。

(V) Thereupon the Lord, seated on that very Lion Seat, entered into the concentration called “The Lion’s Play”. With his supernatural power he shook this great trichiliocosm in six ways – it moved, moved back, trembled, trembled from one end to another, tossed, tossed along. At the sides it rose up, in the middle it sank down; in the middle it rose up, at the sides in sank down; it became soft and pliable, and all beings came to be at ease.

Thereupon, at that moment, minute and second, in this great trichiliocosm the hells, and the animal world, and the world of Yama, they all were abolished and became empty, and all the places of untoward rebirth disappeared. And the beings who had deceased in these destinies – i.e. the hells, the animal births, and the world of Yama – they all, through their very joy and rejoicing, were reborn among men, and also among the six kinds of gods (of the realm of sense desire). Thereupon these men and gods, through the very might of the Lord recalled their former lives. In their great joy and rejoicing they then approached the Lord, saluted his feet with their heads, raised their folded hands to the Lord and paid homage to him. And so in each one of the ten directions, in world systems countless as the sands of the Ganges, all the hells, animal births, and worlds of Yama were abolished and became empty, and all untoward moments disappeared. And the beings who deceased in these three destinies, they all, through their very joy and rejoicing, were reborn among men, and also among the six kinds of gods (of the realm of sense desire). And those who were thus reborn among gods and men, through the might of the Lord, recalled their former lives. They then, in their great joy and rejoicing, went each to his own Buddha-field and approached the presence of the Buddha, the Lord who had arisen therein, saluted his feet, and they all raised their folded hands and paid homage to the Lord.

atha khalu ye 'smiṃs trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau jātyandhāḥ sattvās te cakṣuṣā rūpāṇi paśyanti sma, vadhirāḥ sattvāḥ śrotreṇa śabdān śṛṇvanti sma, unmattāḥ smṛtiṃ pratilabhante sma, vikṣiptacittā ekāgracittā bhavanti sma, jighatsitāḥ pūrṇagātrā bhavanti sma, tṛṣitā vigatapipāsā bhavanti sma, rogaspṛṣṭā vigatarogā bhavanti sma, hīnendriyāḥ paripūrṇendriyā bhavanti sma, avirahitākuśalakāyavāṅmanaskarmāntājīvā virahitākuśalakāyavāṅmanaskarmāntājīvāś ca bhavanti sma, sarvasattvāś ca mātāpitṛsamacittā bhavanti sma, bhrātṛbhaginīsamacittā mitrāmātyajñātisālohitasamacittā daśakuśalakarmapathasevinaś ca bhavanti sma, brahmacāriṇaḥ śucayo nirāmayagandhāḥ sarvasattvāś ca sarvasukhasamarpitā īdṛśaṃ sukhaṃ pratilabhante sma tadyathāpi nāma tṛtīyadhyānasamāpannasya bhikṣoḥ tasminn eva ca samaye evaṃrūpayā prajñayā te samanvāgatā bhavanti sma, yad anyabuddhakṣetrasthā buddhā bhagavanta evam udānayanti sma. sādhu damaḥ asādhu śamaḥ sādhu saṃyamaḥ sādhu cīrṇo brahmacaryāvāsaḥ sādhu prāṇibhūteṣv avihiṃseti.

221:爾時三千大千國土,諸盲者得視、聾者得聽、瘂者能言、傴者得申、拘躄者得手足、狂者得正、亂者得定、病者得愈、飢渴者得飽滿、羸者得力、老者得少、裸者得衣,一切眾生皆得同志,相視如父如母、如兄如弟,等行十善淳修梵事,無有瑕穢澹然快樂,譬如比丘得第三禪,一切眾生皆逮於智,調已自守不嬈眾生。

222:爾時此三千世界眾生之類,盲者得目而覩色像,聾者徹聽聞諸音聲,志亂意惑還復其心,迷憤者則時得定;其裸形者自然衣服,其飢虛者自然飽滿,其消渴者無所思僥,其疾病者而得除愈,身瑕玼者諸根具足;其疲極者自然得解,久猗身者則無所猗。一切眾生得平等心,展轉相瞻,如父如母、如兄如弟、如姊如妹,各各同心等無偏邪、皆行慈心;一切群萌悉修十善,清淨梵行無有塵埃;一切黎庶悉獲安隱,所得安隱猶如比丘得第三禪。于時眾生而致智慧,而悉具足善快調定,離於卑劣、逮得和雅。

223:爾時三千大千國土,眾生盲者得視,聾者得聽,瘂者能言,狂者得正,亂者得定,裸者得衣,飢渴者得飽滿,病者得愈,形殘者得具足。一切眾生皆得等心,相視如父如母如兄如弟如姊如妹,亦如親族及善知識。是時眾生等行十善業道、淨修梵行,無諸瑕穢,恬然快樂,譬如比丘入第三禪皆得好慧,持戒自守不嬈眾生。

220:時,此三千大千世界及餘十方殑伽沙等世界有情,盲者能視,聾者能聽,瘂者能言,狂者得念,亂者得定,貧者得富,露者得衣,飢者得食,渴者得飲,病者得除愈,醜者得端嚴,形殘者得具足,根缺者得圓滿,迷悶者得醒悟,疲頓者得安適。時,諸有情等心相向,如父如母、如兄如弟、如姊如妹、如友如親,離邪語業命修正語業命,離十惡業道、修十善業道,離惡尋思、修善尋思,離非梵行、修正梵行,好淨棄穢、樂靜捨諠,身意泰然忽生妙樂,如修行者入第三定。復有勝慧欻爾現前,咸作是思:布施、調伏、安忍、勇進、寂靜、諦觀,遠離放逸,修行梵行,於諸有情慈、悲、喜、捨,不相擾惱,豈不善哉!

Thereupon in this great trichiliocosm the beings who were born blind saw forms with their eyes; the deaf heard sounds with their ears; the insane regained their mindfulness; those with distracted thoughts became one-pointed in their thoughts. The hungry were fed, the thirsty found their thirst stilled, the sick were healed and the crippled made whole. Those with unwholesome deeds of body, word and mind, and with unwholesome livelihood gave up their unwholesome habits. (P10) All beings considered each other as one considers one’s mother, father, brother, sister, friends, companions, kinsmen; and relations; and they tended the ten wholesome paths of action. Guarding their chastity, pure, they lived in the odour of sanctity. And all beings, possessed of all happiness, acquired the ease which a monk feels when immersed in the third Trance. And at that very time they were endowed with such wisdom that the Buddhas and Lords in other Buddha-fields cried out: “Good is self-discipline! Good is quietude! Good is self-mastery! Good is it to have observed the practice of the religious life!199 Good is the non-harming of living beings!”

atha khalu bhagavāṃs tasminn eva siṃhāsane niṣaṇṇaḥ, imaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasraṃ lokadhātum abhibhūya tiṣṭhati bhāsate tapati virocate sma, ābhayā varṇena śriyā tejasā ca, pūrvasyāṃ diśi dakṣiṇasyāṃ paścimāyām uttarasyām adhastād ūrdhvaṃ digvidikṣu gaṅgānadībālukopamān lokadhātūn abhibhūya tathāgatas tiṣṭhati bhāsate tapati virocate sma, ābhayā varnena śriyā tejasā ca, tadyathāpi nāma sumeruḥ parvatarājaḥ sarvaparvatān abhibhūya tiṣṭhati bhāsate tapati virocate sma ābhayā varṇena śriyā tejasā ca, evam eva bhagavān (psp1-1: 6) sarvalokadhātūn abhibhūya tiṣṭhati bhāsate tapati virocate sma, ābhayā varṇena śriyā tejasā ca.

221:爾時世尊坐師子床,於此三千大千國土其德特尊,光明色像威德巍巍。譬如山王須彌,眾山無能及者。

222:於是世尊在師子床,處於三千大千世界,而最超異威神巍巍,光燿煌煌無有畏懼,聖明輝赫尊顏具足,無不周普照于東方江河沙等諸佛世界,八維上下各江河沙等世尊國土,如須彌山超踰一切諸山之上,明在所通。

223:爾時世尊在師子座上坐,於三千大千國土中其德特尊,光明色像威德巍巍,遍至十方如恒河沙等諸佛國土。譬如須彌山王光色殊特,眾山無能及者。

220:爾時,世尊在師子座,光明殊特威德巍巍,映蔽三千大千世界并餘十方殑伽沙等諸佛國土,蘇迷盧山、輪圍山等及餘一切龍神天宮乃至淨居皆悉不現;如秋滿月暉映眾星,如夏日輪光奪諸色,如四大寶妙高山王掩蔽諸山喪其光彩。

(VI) Thereupon the Lord, seated on this very Lion Seat, over-towered this great trichiliocosm. There the Tathagata stood in all his glory, shone forth, gleamed and shed light, surpassing with his splendour, lustre, brilliancy, and beauty world systems as numerous as the sands of the Ganges in each of the ten directions. He did so in the same way in which Sumeru, king of mountains, over-towering all mountains, stands, shines forth, gleams, and sheds light, surpassing them with its splendour, lustre, brilliancy, and beauty.

atha khalu bhagavān punar eva yādṛk trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau sattvānām ātmabhāvas tat samānam ātmabhāvaṃ prākṛtam upadarśayāmāsa.

atha khalu ye 'smiṃs trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau śuddhāvāsakāyikā devāḥ śubhakṛtsnā ābhāsvarā brahmakāyikā devāḥ paranirmitavaśavartinaś ca nirmāṇaratayaś ca tuṣitāś ca yāmāś ca trāyastriṃśāś ca cāturmahārājakāyikāś ca devās te taṃ tathāgatasyāsecanakam ātmabhāvaṃ dṛṣṭvā divyāḥ puṣpadhūpagandhamālyavilepanacūrṇacīvaracchattradhvajapatākāvaijayantīr gṛhītvā divyāni utpalakumudasaugandhikapuṇḍarīkapadmāni gṛhītvā divyāni ca keśaratamālapatrāṇi gṛhītvā yena tathāgatasyāsecanaka ātmabhāvas tenopasaṃkrāntāḥ, ye ceha trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau manuṣyās te 'pi taṃ tathāgatasyāsecanakam ātmabhāvaṃ dṛṣṭvā sthalajalajāni puṣpāṇi gṛhītvā yena tathāgatasyāsecanaka ātmabhāvas tenopasaṃkrāntāḥ.

atha khalu te devās te ca mānuṣās tābhir divyābhiḥ puṣpadhūpagandhamālyavilepanacūrṇacīvaracchattradhvajapatākāvaijayantībhis taiś ca sthalajalajaiḥ puṣpais taṃ tathāgatakāyam avakiranti sma, abhyavakiranti sma.

221:爾時世尊如諸如來、無所著、等正覺法,以大普音遍三千大千國土。諸首陀會天及諸梵天、第六天王、釋天、四王天,其中諸天及諸眾生,悉見師子座、聞佛所說,各持天上所有種種名香、種種名華來詣佛所,供養如來、無所著、等正覺。

222:於是世尊承如來旨已,自然聖令三千大千世界眾生悉共瞻覩。時此世界,首陀衛淨居諸天,梵天、波羅尼蜜天、尼摩羅天、兜術天、鹽天、忉利天、四天王天及三千大千世界所居人民,自然見身親近如來,皆得自然天華傅餝、天香天雜香天搗香、天青蓮芙蓉鮮華,諸妙天華莖葉具足,各各發行齎詣如來,稽首佛足各散佛上,及於人間水陸諸花,各各手執,往詣世尊而為供養。

223:爾時,世尊以常身示此三千大千國土一切眾生。是時首陀會天、梵眾天、他化自在天、化樂天、兜率陀天、夜摩天、三十三天、四天王天及三千大千國土人與非人,以諸天花、天瓔珞、天澤香、天末香,天青蓮花、赤蓮花、白蓮花、紅蓮花、天樹葉香持詣佛所,是諸天花乃至天樹葉香以散佛上。

220:佛以神力現本色身,令此三千大千世界一切有情皆悉覩見。時,此三千大千世界無量無數淨居諸天,下至欲界四大王眾天,及餘一切人、非人等,皆見如來處師子座,威光顯曜如大金山,歡喜踊躍歎未曾有,各持種種上妙花鬘、塗散等香、衣服、瓔珞、寶幢、幡蓋、伎樂、諸珍,及無量種天青蓮花、天赤蓮花、天白蓮花、天香蓮花、天黃蓮花、天紅蓮花、天金錢樹花及香葉花,并餘無量水陸生花,持詣佛所奉散佛上。

(VII) Thereupon the Lord exhibited His own natural body in this great trichiliocosm. The gods of the world of sense desire and of the world of form, in this great trichiliocosm (P11), saw that glorified body of the Tathagata. They took celestial flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, ointments, powders, robes, parasols, flags, banners, and streamers; they took celestial lotuses – blue lotuses, night lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses- they took Kesara flowers and Tamala leaves; and they approached with them the glorified body of the Tathagata. Likewise the human beings in this great trichiliocosm took land and water flowers and approached the Tathagata’s glorified body. Both gods and men then strewed these flowers, etc., over the body of the Tathagata.

atha khalu yais taiḥ puṣpadhūpagandhamālyavilepanacūrṇacīvaracchattradhvajapatākāvaijayantīvarṣaiḥ sthalajalajaiś ca puṣpair bhagavān avakīrṇas tāni ca sarvāṇi uparyantarīkṣe bhagavato 'dhiṣṭhānena trisāhasramahāsāhasralokadhātupramāṇam ekaṃ kūṭāgāraṃ saṃsthitam abhūt, tataś ca kūṭāgārāt tāni divyāni puṣpapaṭṭadāmāni lambante pralambante sma, taiś ca puṣpadāmabhiḥ paṭṭadāmabhiś cāyaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātur atīvāśobhata, tena ca suvarṇavarṇena bhagavataḥ prabhāvabhāsena daśasu dikṣu prasṛtena ekaikasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavaḥ sphuṭāvabhāsitāś cābhūvan, asmiṃś ca trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau sarveṣu cāturdvīpakeṣu lokadhātuṣu teṣāṃ devamanuṣyāṇāṃ (psp1-1: 7) ca ekaikasyaitad abhūt, mama puratas tathāgato niṣaṇṇo dharmaṃ deśayatīti.

221:於是三千大千國土其中眾生,各持世間所有名香、水陸諸華來詣佛所,供養世尊。是時諸天香華、眾生香華,所可供養散如來上者,於空中合化成大臺,於其臺中垂諸幢幡。幢幡華蓋五色繽紛,華蓋光明悉遍照三千大千國土皆作金色;十方恒邊沙諸佛國土亦復如是。是時閻浮提人意自念言:今日如來、無所著、等正覺,獨為我等說法,不在餘處。諸三千大千國土中諸眾生亦各念言:今日如來在我前坐,獨為我等說法,不在餘國。

222:諸天人民所散供養諸華之具,上在虛空,三千大千世界化為宮殿自然樓觀,從其宮殿垂諸天華繒蓋幢幡,紛葩飄颺顯灼普現,其諸花香莊嚴三千大千佛國,自然巍巍,形像眾色如紫磨金,八維上下芬馥晃昱亦復如是。於是閻浮提城所有人民,瞻覩如來現身威變不可稱計,各心念言:今日如來坐於我前。普佛國土亦復如是,各各心念:今日如來在我前坐而說經法。

223:所散寶花於此三千大千國土上,在虛空中化成大臺。是花臺邊垂諸瓔珞,雜色花蓋五色繽紛,是諸花蓋瓔珞遍滿三千大千世界。以是花蓋瓔珞嚴飾故,此三千大千國土皆作金色,及十方如恒河沙等諸佛國土皆亦如是。爾時三千大千國土及十方眾生,各各自念佛獨為我說法不為餘人。

220:以佛神力,諸花鬘等旋轉上踊合成花臺,量等三千大千世界,垂天花蓋、寶鐸、珠幡,綺飾紛綸甚可愛樂。時,此佛土微妙莊嚴,猶如西方極樂世界。佛光暉映三千大千物類,虛空皆同金色,十方各等殑伽河沙諸佛世界亦復如是。時,此三千大千佛土,以佛神力,一切天、人各各見佛正坐其前,咸謂如來獨為說法。

By the sustaining power of the Buddha all these flowers, etc., formed high in the firmament one single pointed tower, which had the dimensions of the great trichiliocosm. And from this tower the celestial flowers and silken tassels hung down and were suspended, and they made this great trichiliocosm look very beautiful. And because the brightly shining golden colour of the Lord streamed forth in the ten directions, in each direction countless world systems were (P12) lit up and illumined. In this great trichiliocosm, and in all the world systems, the same thought occurred to each one of these gods and men: “It is for me that the Tathagata, seated there, demonstrates Dharma”.

atha khalu bhagavāṃs tasminn eva siṃhāsane niṣaṇṇaḥ punar eva smitam akarot, yena smitāvabhāsenāyaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātuḥ sphuṭo 'bhūt, yāvad daśasu dikṣu gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavaḥ sphuṭā abhūvan, ye ceha trisāhasramahāsāhasre lokadhātau sattvās te sarve pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu buddhān bhagavataḥ paśyanti sma saśrāvakasaṃghān, tasyāṃ ca pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu ye sattvās te sarve imāṃ sahālokadhātuṃ paśyanti sma śākyamuniṃ ca tathāgataṃ sārdhaṃ bhikṣusaṃghena. evaṃ dakṣiṇasyāṃ diśi paścimāyām uttarasyām uttarapūrvasyāṃ pūrvadakṣiṇasyāṃ dakṣiṇapaścimāyāṃ paścimottarasyām adha ūrdhvaṃ digbhāge gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu buddhān bhagavataḥ paśyanti sma saśrāvakasaṃghān, teṣu ca gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu ye sattvās te sarve imāṃ sahālokadhātuṃ paśyanti sma śākyamuniñ ca tathāgataṃ sārdhaṃ bhikṣusaṃghena.

221:爾時世尊於師子座復放光明,照於三千大千國土。其中眾生見光明者,盡見東方恒邊沙佛及弟子眾,悉見是間沙訶國土釋迦文佛及諸會眾;十方國土各各相見亦復如是。

222:於時世尊在師子床更復欣笑,加復重照三千大千世界,弘光赫弈。此土人民悉共覩見東方江河沙等諸佛國土,現在如來、至真、等正覺與諸菩薩聲聞之眾;又復東方江河沙等諸佛世界所有眾生,悉亦遙見此佛國土釋迦文佛與比丘僧及諸菩薩而坐說經;八維上下亦復如是,悉遙見此,等無差特。

223:爾時世尊在師子座熈怡微笑,光從口出,遍照三千大千國土。以此光故,此間三千大千國土中眾生,皆見東方如恒河沙等諸佛及僧;彼間如恒河沙等國土中眾生,亦見此間三千大千國土中釋迦牟尼佛及諸大眾。南西北方四維上下亦復如是。

220:爾時,世尊不起于座,熙怡微笑,從其面門放大光明,遍照三千大千佛土,并餘十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界。時,此三千大千佛土一切有情,尋佛光明普見十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界一切如來、應、正等覺,聲聞、菩薩眾會圍繞,及餘一切有情無情品類差別。時,彼十方殑伽沙等諸佛世界一切有情,尋佛光明亦見此土釋迦牟尼如來、應、正等覺,聲聞、菩薩眾會圍繞,及餘一切有情無情品類差別。

(VIII) Thereupon the Lord, seated on this very Lion Throne, smiled once again. Through the illumination from that smile this great trichiliocosm, and the innumerable world systems in the ten directions, were lit up. And all the beings in this great trichiliocosm saw the Buddhas, the Lords, and their assemblies of disciples in countless world systems in the East. And conversely, all the beings in countless world systems in the East saw this Saha200 world system, and Sakyamuni, the Tathagata, together with his community of monks.

atha khalu pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamān lokadhātūn atikramya tebhyo yaḥ sarvāvasāniko lokadhātū ratnāvatī nāma tatra ratnākaro nāma tathāgato 'rhan samyaksaṃbuddhas tiṣṭhati dhriyate yāpayati, sa imām eva prajñāpāramitāṃ bodhisattvānāṃ dharmaṃ deśayati.

atha tatra lokadhātau samantaraśmir nāma bodhisattvo mahāsattvas taṃ mahāntam avabhāsaṃ dṛṣṭvā tañ ca mahāntaṃ pṛthivīcālaṃ tañ ca bhagavato 'secanakam ātmabhāvaṃ dṛṣṭvā yena bhagavān ratnākaras tathāgato 'rhan samyaksaṃbuddhas tenopasaṃkrāmad upasaṃkramya tasya bhagavataḥ pādāv abhivandya taṃ tathāgataṃ ratnākaram etad avocat: ko bhagavan hetuḥ? kaḥ pratyayo? 'sya mahato 'vabhāsasya loke prādurbhāvāyāsya ca mahataḥ pṛthivīcālasyāsya ca tathāgatasyāsecanakātmabhāvasya saṃdarśanāya.

221:東方度如恒邊沙國有世界名寶迹,其佛號寶事如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在以般若波羅蜜教化一切。有菩薩名普明,見釋迦文佛光明變化威神感動,便白寶事如來言:今日何緣有是佛身光明變化感動如是?

222:於是過東方江河沙等諸佛世界,最邊國土名寶迹,其佛號寶事如來、至真、等正覺,今現在為諸眾生,亦復講說《摩訶般若波羅蜜經》。彼時其佛世界,而有菩薩號曰普明,覩大光明及地大動,即便往詣寶事如來,稽首問曰:唯然,世尊!以何因緣,其大光明照此佛土、地大震動?諸如來身自然為見,會當有意。

223:是時東方過如恒河沙等諸佛國土,其國最在邊國名多寶,佛號寶積,今現在為諸菩薩摩訶薩說般若波羅蜜。彼國有菩薩名曰普明,見大光明、見地大動又見佛身,到寶積佛所白佛言:世尊!今何因緣,有此光明照於世間,地大震動又見佛身?

220:爾時,東方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰多寶,佛號寶性,現為菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多。彼有菩薩名曰普光,見此大光、大地變動及佛身相,心懷猶豫前詣佛所,白言:世尊!何因何緣而有此瑞?

(IX) In the East, beyond countless world systems, at the very limit of these world systems, there is a world system called Ratnavati.201 In it the Tathagata Ratnakara stands, holds and maintains himself.203 He demonstrates to the Bodhisattvas this very perfection of wisdom as the Dharma. Now, in that world system a Bodhisattva, a great being, called Samantarasmi saw this great illumination, and this great shaking of the earth, and this glorified body of the Lord, and he approached the Lord Ratnakara, the Tathagata, saluted his feet with his head, and said to him: “What is the cause, O Lord, (P13) what is the reason for this great illumination being manifested in the world, and for this great shaking of the earth, and for the exhibition of the glorified body of that Tathagata?”

evam ukte ratnākaras tathāgataḥ samantaraśmiṃ bodhisattvam etad avocat: asti kulaputretaḥ paścimāyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamān lokadhātūn (psp1-1: 8) atikramya sahā nāma lokadhātus tatra śākyamunir nāma tathāgato 'rhan samyaksaṃbuddhas tiṣṭhati dhriyate yāpayati, sa bodhisattvānāṃ mahāsattvānāṃ prajñāpāramitāṃ saṃprakāśayati tasyāyam īdṛśo 'nubhāvaḥ.

atha khalu samantaraśmir bodhisattvo ratnākaraṃ tathāgatam etad avocat: gamiṣyāmy ahaṃ bhagavaṃs tāṃ sahāṃ lokadhātuṃ tañ ca śākyamuniṃ tathāgataṃ darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya tāṃś ca bodhisattvān mahāsattvān bhūyastvena kumārabhūtān dhāraṇīpratilabdhān samādhinirhārakuśalān sarvasamādhivaśipāramitāṅ gatān.

sa bhagavān āha: gaccha tvaṃ kulaputra yasyedānīṃ kālaṃ manyase.

221:寶事如來告普明曰:西方極遠有世界名沙訶,其佛號釋迦文,今現在為諸菩薩說般若波羅蜜。是其瑞應。普明白佛言:唯然,世尊!我欲詣彼見釋迦文佛禮事供養。彼國菩薩皆得總持、得諸三昧超越三昧。佛告普明:欲往隨意。

222:彼佛告於普明菩薩曰:族姓子!欲知西方極遠有忍世界,其佛號曰釋迦文如來,今現在為諸菩薩說般若波羅蜜。是其威神光也。普明菩薩白寶事如來:唯然,世尊!我欲詣彼見釋迦牟尼如來,稽首作禮;及諸菩薩摩訶薩眾童真等,得總持究竟三昧,定意自在,得度無極,釋迦牟多阿竭、阿羅訶、三耶三佛。寶事如來阿羅呵、三耶三佛告普明菩薩曰:往,善男子!汝知是時。

223:寶積佛報普明言:善男子!西方度如恒河沙等國,有世界名娑婆,佛號釋迦牟尼,今現在欲為諸菩薩摩訶薩說般若波羅蜜。是其神力。是時普明菩薩白寶積佛言:世尊!我今當往見釋迦牟尼佛禮拜供養,及見彼諸菩薩摩訶薩紹尊位者——皆得陀羅尼及諸三昧,於諸三昧而得自在。佛告普明:欲往隨意,宜知是時。

220:時,寶性佛告普光言:從此西方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰堪忍,佛號釋迦牟尼,將為菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多,彼佛神力故現斯瑞。普光聞已,歡喜踊躍白言:世尊!我今請往堪忍世界,觀禮供養釋迦牟尼佛及菩薩眾,唯願聽許!時,寶性佛告普光言:善哉!善哉!隨汝意往。

The Tathagata Ratnakara replied: “There is, O son of good family, from here in the Western direction, beyond countless world systems, a world system called Saha. There the Tathagata Sakyamuni stands, holds, and maintains himself he reveals the perfection of wisdom to the Bodhisattvas, the great beings. This is his doing.” Samantarasmi replied: “I will go to that Saha world system, to see, salute, and honour that Tathagata Sakyamuni, and those Bodhisattvas, great beings, for the most part candidates to Buddha-hood, who have acquired the Dharanis, are skilful in the consummation of the concentrations, and have reached the highest control over all the concentrations.” Ratnakara said: “go then, you son of good family, for the right time has come.”

atha khalu ratnākaras tathāgato nānāratnamayāni suvarṇāvabhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi padmāni samantaraśmaye bodhisattvāya prādāt, etais tvaṃ kulaputra padmais taṃ śākyamuniṃ tathāgatam abhyavakireḥ, evañ ca vadeḥ ratnākaro bhagavān bhagavantam alpābādhatāṃ paripṛcchaty alpātaṅkatāṃ laghūtthānatāṃ yātrāṃ balaṃ sukhasparśavihāratāṃ paripṛcchati, imāni ca tena bhagavatā ratnākareṇa tathāgatenārhatā samyaksaṃbuddhena padmāni prahitāni bhagavata iti, saṃprajānakārī ca tvaṃ kulaputra tatra buddhakṣetre bhūyāḥ. tat kasya hetoḥ? durāsadā hi te bodhisattvā ye tatra sahāyāṃ lokadhātāv upapannāḥ.

atha khalu samantaraśmir bodhisattvo ratnākarasya tathāgatasya sakāśāt tāni nānāratnamayāni padmāni gṛhītvā suvamanirbhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi anekair bodhisattvakoṭiniyutaśatasahasrair gṛhasthaiḥ pravrajitaiś ca dārakair dārikābhiś ca sārdhaṃ parivṛtaḥ puraskṛtaḥ pūrvasyāṃ diśi teṣu gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu buddhān bhagavataḥ satkurvan gurukurvan mānayan pūjayan puṣpadhūpagandhamālyavilepanacūrṇacīvaracchattradhvajapatākāvaijayantībhir yeneyaṃ sahālokadhātus tena saṃprāptaḥ, yena ca śākyamunis tathāgatas tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ, upasaṃkramya bhagavataḥ pādau śirasābhivandya ekānte 'tiṣṭhat, ekānte sthitaś ca samantaraśmir bodhisattvo bhagavantaṃ śākyamunim etad avocat: ratnākaro bhagavān bhagavantam alpābādhatāṃ paripṛcchaty alpātaṅkatāṃ laghūtthānatāṃ yātrāṃ balaṃ sukhasparśavihāratāṃ ca paripṛcchati, imāni ca tena bhagavatā ratnākareṇa tathāgatena (psp1-1: 9) nānāratnamayāni suvarṇanirbhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi padmāni preṣitāni bhagavataḥ.

221:時寶事佛便以千葉金色蓮華與普明言:持是供養釋迦文佛。重告普明:汝詣彼國,攝持威儀無失法度。所以者何?彼國菩薩奉持律行,是以生彼。是時普明菩薩與無央數百千菩薩、無數比丘、諸善男子、善女人眾,從東方來——所經諸佛,皆以香華供養禮事——來詣忍界。見釋迦文佛,稽首作禮,普明菩薩白釋迦文佛言:寶事如來致問慇懃問訊世尊:坐起輕利、氣力如常不?今奉此華供養世尊。

222:寶事如來賜普明菩薩金色蓮華而有千葉:取,善男子!此寶蓮華以用供散釋迦牟如來。善男子!欲往修寂然行,忍界菩薩生彼土者,甚有患難亦難值遇。普明菩薩即受其金色蓮華,與無央數億百千姟諸菩薩眾男女、大小、居家、出家,則以供養東方諸佛天中天,承事歸命,上諸華香雜香搗香。次復詣釋迦牟如來,稽首足下,却住一面,普明菩薩白世尊曰:唯然,大聖!寶事如來敬問無量,乞求輕便,力行安乎?又復遣進金色蓮華。

223:爾時,寶積佛以千葉金色蓮花與普明菩薩而告之曰:善男子!汝以此花散釋迦牟尼佛上。生彼娑婆國中諸菩薩難勝難及,汝當一心以遊彼國。爾時普明菩薩從寶積佛受千葉金色光明蓮花,與無數出家、在家菩薩及諸童男童女,俱共發引,皆供養恭敬尊重讚歎東方諸佛,持諸花香、瓔珞澤香、末香塗香、衣服幢蓋,向釋迦牟尼佛所。到已,頭面禮佛足一面立,白佛言:世尊!寶積如來致問:世尊!少惱少患、起居輕利、氣力安樂不?又以此千葉金色蓮花供養世尊。

220:即以千莖金色蓮花,其花千葉眾寶莊嚴,授與普光而誨之曰:汝持此花至釋迦牟尼佛所,如我詞曰:寶性如來致問無量:少病少惱、起居輕利、氣力調和、安樂住不?世事可忍不?眾生易度不?持此蓮花以寄世尊而為佛事。汝至彼界應住正知,勿以慢心觀彼佛土及諸大眾而自毀傷。所以者何?彼諸菩薩威德難及,悲願熏心,以大因緣而生彼土。普光菩薩受花奉勅,與無量百千俱胝那庾多菩薩,及無數百千童男童女,頂禮佛足右繞奉辭,各持無量上妙供具發引而來,所經東方諸佛世界,一一佛所供養恭敬、尊重讚歎無空過者。到此佛所頂禮雙足,繞百千匝却住一面。普光菩薩前白佛言:世尊!從此東方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰多寶,佛號寶性,致問世尊無量:少病少惱、起居輕利、氣力調和、安樂住不?世事可忍不?眾生易度不?持此千莖金色蓮華,以寄世尊而為佛事。

Thereupon the Tathagata Ratnakara gave to the Bodhisattva Samantarasmi lotuses made of manifold jewels, shining like gold, each with thousands of petals. “These lotuses, O son of good family, scatter over the Tathagata Sakyamuni! And say to him: ‘The Lord Ratnakara hopes that the Lord Sakyamuni is well and free from sickness, alert and buoyant, strong, happy and comfortable. And these lotuses have been sent to the Lord by this Lord Ratnakara, the Tathagata’! Act with full self-possession in that Buddha-field! For the Bodhisattvas who are reborn in that Saha world system are difficult to deal with.” (P14)

Thereupon the Bodhisattva Samantarasmi took from the Tathagata Ratnakara those lotuses made of manifold jewels, shining like gold, each with a thousand petals. He was surrounded and accompanied by many hundred of thousands of niyutas of kotis of Bodhisattvas, both householders and recluses, and by young men and women. And before they left they honoured, worshipped, and revered the Buddhas and Lords in the world-systems of the East.

(X) With the flowers, etc., he reached the Saha world system, approached the Tathagata Sakyamuni, salted the Lord’s feet with his head, and stood on one side. The Bodhisattva Samantarasmi then said to the Lord Sakyamuni: “The Lord Ratnakara hopes that the Lord Sakyamuni is well and free from sickness, alert and buoyant, strong, happy and comfortable. It is the Tathagata Ratnakara who has despatched to the Lord these lotuses made of manifold jewels, shining like gold, with thousands of petals.”

atha khalu bhagavān śākyamunis tathāgatas tāni padmāni gṛhītvā yena te pūrvasyāṃ diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavas tena prākṣipat, taiś ca padmais te lokadhātavaḥ sphuṭā abhūvan, teṣu ca padmeṣu buddhavigrahā niṣaṇṇakāḥ, teṣu ca buddhakṣetreṣu dharmaṃ deśayanti yad utemām eva prajñāpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāṃ dharmadeśanām, yaiś ca sattvaiḥ sa dharmaḥ śrutas te niyatā abhūvann anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau.

atha khalu te bodhisattvās te ca gṛhasthās te ca pravrajitās te ca dārakās tāś ca dārikās tato ratnāvatyā lokadhātoḥ samantaraśminā bodhisattvena mahāsattvena sārdham āgatāḥ svakasvakaiḥ kuśalamūlair bhagavantaṃ śākyamuniṃ satkṛtya gurukṛtya saṃmānya saṃpūjyaikānte nyaṣīdan.

2211)佛即受之。釋迦文佛便以此華散於東方恒邊沙佛國,其華遍至,一一華者皆有坐佛,皆說般若波羅蜜教化眾生,聞是教者皆發無上正真道意。2)彼善男子、善女人隨普明菩薩來者,皆禮事釋迦文佛足,所齎香華供養世尊。

2221)佛受蓮華,尋以遙散東方江河沙諸佛國土。其華即時周遍東方諸佛世界,有佛坐於自然金色蓮華,講說經法,亦復演斯六波羅蜜。其有眾生聞此說者,一切究竟即時堅住於阿耨多羅三耶三菩。2)男女大小悉禮佛足,各以功德,供養多阿竭、阿羅呵、三耶三菩。

2231)爾時釋迦牟尼佛受是千葉金色蓮花,以散東方如恒河沙等諸國土中。佛所散寶花滿東方如恒河沙等諸佛國土,一一花上皆有菩薩結跏趺坐說六波羅蜜,聞此法者必至阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。2)諸出家、在家菩薩及諸童男童女,頭面禮釋迦牟尼佛足,各以供養具供養恭敬尊重讚歎釋迦牟尼佛。是諸出家、在家菩薩及諸童男童女,各各以善根福德力故,得供養釋迦牟尼佛多陀阿伽度、阿羅訶、三藐三佛陀。

2201)時,釋迦牟尼佛受此蓮花,還散東方諸佛世界。佛神力故,令此蓮花遍諸佛土,諸花臺中各有化佛結跏趺坐,為諸菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多,有情聞者必得無上正等菩提。2)是時,普光及諸眷屬見此事已,歡喜踊躍歎未曾有,各隨善根供具多少,供養恭敬、尊重讚歎佛菩薩已,退坐一面。餘東方界皆亦如是。

Thereupon the Lord Sakyamuni, the Tathagata took up these lotuses, and threw them in the Eastern direction into countless world systems, which were lit up by these lotuses. Buddha-frames were seated on those lotuses. In those Buddha-fields they demonstrated dharmas, i.e. this very demonstration of dharma associated with the perfection of wisdom. And the beings who heard that dharma became fixed on the utmost, right and perfect enlightenment.

Thereupon those Bodhisattvas, both the householders and recluses, and the young men and women who had come from that world system Ratnavati with Samantarasmi, the Bodhisattva, the great being, each on by virtue of his own wholesome roots revered, respected, honoured and worshipped the Lord Sakyamuni, and sat down on one side.

2221)南方去此江河沙等最極邊際,有佛世界,名曰離一切憂,其佛號無憂首多阿竭、阿羅呵、三耶三佛。2)彼有菩薩名離戚,啟辭其佛,佛賜蓮華,與無數菩薩俱,經諸國土供養諸佛,來詣釋迦牟尼如來,稽首供養,却坐聽經。

2231)南方度如恒河沙等諸佛國土,其國最在邊國名離一切憂,佛號無憂德,2)菩薩名離憂。

2201)爾時,南方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名離一切憂,佛號無憂德,現為菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多。2)彼有菩薩名曰離憂,見此大光、大地變動及佛身相,心懷猶豫前詣佛所,白言:世尊!何因何緣而有此瑞?3)時,無憂德佛告離憂言:從此北方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰堪忍,佛號釋迦牟尼,將為菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多,彼佛神力故現斯瑞。4)離憂聞已,歡喜踊躍白言:世尊!我今請往堪忍世界,觀禮供養釋迦牟尼佛及菩薩眾,唯願聽許!時,無憂德佛告離憂言:善哉!善哉!隨汝意往。5)即以千莖金色蓮花,其華千葉眾寶莊嚴,授與離憂而誨之曰:汝持此花至釋迦牟尼佛所,如我詞曰:無憂德佛致問無量:少病少惱、起居輕利、氣力調和、安樂住不?世事可忍不?眾生易度不?持此蓮花以寄世尊而為佛事。汝至彼界應住正知,勿以慢心觀彼佛土及諸大眾而自毀傷。所以者何?彼諸菩薩威德難及,悲願熏心,以大因緣而生彼土。6)離憂菩薩受花奉勅,與無量百千俱胝那庾多菩薩,及無數百千童男童女,頂禮佛足右繞奉辭,各持無量上妙供具發引而來,所經南方諸佛世界,一一佛所供養恭敬、尊重讚歎無空過者。到此佛所頂禮雙足,繞百千匝却住一面。7)離憂菩薩前白佛言:世尊!從此南方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名離一切憂,佛號無憂德,致問世尊無量:少病少惱、起居輕利、氣力調和、安樂住不?世事可忍不?眾生易度不?持此千莖金色蓮花,以寄世尊而為佛事。8)時,釋迦牟尼佛受此蓮花,還散南方諸佛世界。佛神力故,令此蓮花遍諸佛土,諸花臺中各有化佛結跏趺坐,為諸菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多,有情聞者必得無上正等菩提。是時,離憂及諸眷屬見此事已,歡喜踊躍歎未曾有,各隨善根供具多少,供養恭敬、尊重讚歎佛菩薩已,退坐一面。餘南方界皆亦如是。

So far about the East (P15). From all the ten directions Bodhisattvas came to the Lord Sakyamuni. The same scene took place, but the names of the world system, the Tathagata, and the Bodhisattva differ in each case. They are: for the South Sarvasokapagato, Asokasri, and Vigatasoko respectively;

atha khalu nandadatto bodhisattvo nandaśriyaṃ tathāgatam etad avoacat: gamiṣyāmy ahaṃ bhagavaṃs tāṃ sahāṃ lokadhātuṃ tañ ca śākyamuniṃ tathāgataṃ darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya tāṃś ca bodhisattvān mahāsattvān bhūyastvena kumārabhūtān dhāraṇīpratilabdhān samādhinirhārakuśalān sarvasamādhivaśipāramiṅ gatān.

sa bhagavān āha: gaccha tvaṃ kulaputra yasyedānīṃ kālaṃ manyase.

atha khalu nandaśrīs tathāgato nānāratnamayāni suvarṇāvabhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi padmāni nandadattāya bodhisattvāya prādāt, etais tvaṃ kulaputra padmais taṃ śākyamuniṃ tathāgatam abhyavakireḥ, evañ ca vader, nandaśrīr bhagavān bhagavantam alpabādhatāṃ paripṛcchaty alpātaṅkatāṃ laghūtthānatāṃ yātrāṃ balaṃ sukhasparśavihāratāṃ ca paripṛcchati, imāni ca tena bhagavatā nandaśriyā tathāgatenārhatā samyaksaṃbuddhena padmāni prahitāni bhagavata iti, saṃprajānakārī ca tvaṃ kulaputra tatra buddhakṣetre bhūyāḥ. tat kasya hetoḥ? durāsadā hi te bodhisattvā ye tatra sahāyāṃ lokadhātāv upapannāḥ.

atha nandadatto bodhisattvo nandaśriyas tathāgatasya sakāśāt tāni nānāratnamayāni padmāni gṛhītvā suvarṇanirbhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi anekair bodhisattvakoṭīniyutaśatasahasrair gṛhasthaiḥ pravrajitaiś ca dārakair dārikābhiś ca sārdhaṃ parivṛtaḥ puraskṛta upariṣṭād diśi teṣu (psp1-1: 27) gaṅgānadībālukopameṣu lokadhātuṣu buddhān bhagavataḥ satkurvan gurukurvan mānayan pūjayan puṣpadhūpagandhamālyavilepanacūrṇacīvaracchattradhvajapatākāvaijayantībhir yenāyaṃ sahālokadhātus tena saṃprāptaḥ, yena ca śākyamunis tathāgato 'rhan samyaksaṃbuddhas tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ, upasaṃkramya bhagavataḥ pādau śirasābhivandya ekānte 'tiṣṭhat, ekānte sthitaś ca nandadatto bodhisattvo bhagavantaṃ śākyamuniṃ tathāgatam etad avocat: nandaśrīr bhagavān bhagavantam alpābādhatāṃ paripṛcchaty alpātaṅkatāṃ laghūtthānatāṃ yātrāṃ balaṃ sukhasparśavihāratāṃ ca paripṛcchati, imāni ca tena bhagavatā nandaśriyā tathāgatenārhatā samyaksaṃbuddhena nānāratnamayāni suvarṇanirbhāsāni sahasrapatrāṇi padmāni preṣitāni bhagavataḥ.

atha khalu bhagavān śākyamunis tathāgatas tāni padmāni gṛhītvā yena ta upariṣṭād diśi gaṅgānadībālukopamā lokadhātavas tena prākṣipat, taiś ca padmais te lokadhātavaḥ sphuṭā abhūvan, teṣu ca padmeṣu buddhavigrahā niṣaṇṇakās teṣu ca buddhakṣetreṣu dharmaṃ deśayanti yad utemām eva prajñāpāramitāpratisaṃyuktāṃ dharmadeśanāṃ, yaiś ca sattvaiḥ sa dharmaḥ śrutas te niyatā abhūvann anuttarāyāṃ samyaksaṃbodhau.

atha khalu te bodhisattvās te ca gṛhasthās te ca pravrajitās te ca dārakās tāś ca dārikās tato nandāyā lokadhātor nandadattena bodhisattvena mahāsattvena sārdham āgatāḥ svakasvakaiḥ kuśalamūlair bhagavantaṃ śākyamuniṃ satkṛtya gurukṛtya saṃmānya saṃpūjyaikānte nyaṣīdan.

221:上方度如恒邊沙,有世界名思樂,其佛號思樂威如來、無所著、等正覺,有菩薩名思樂施。如是六方菩薩各白其佛:此何變化而現於此?其佛各報諸菩薩言:去是極遠有忍世界,佛號釋迦文,為諸菩薩說般若波羅蜜,是其瑞應。彼諸菩薩各白其佛:欲詣忍界見釋迦文佛,禮事供養。爾時諸佛各與寶華,及諸無數百千菩薩、諸比丘僧、善男子、善女人俱來詣此。所經諸國土,各以香華供養諸佛。次詣忍界,見釋迦文佛,供養禮事問訊,皆如東方諸菩薩比。

222:上方去此江河沙等,有世界名曰欣樂,其佛號樂首多阿竭、阿羅呵、三耶三佛。彼有菩薩名施樂,啟辭其佛,佛賜蓮華,與無數菩薩俱,經諸國土供養諸佛,詣釋迦牟如來,稽首供養,却坐聽經。其四維者,亦復如是,等無差特

223:上方度如恒河沙等諸佛國土,其國最在邊國名喜,佛號喜德,菩薩名德喜。如是一切皆如東方。

2201)爾時,上方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰歡喜,佛號喜德,現為菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多。彼有菩薩名曰喜授,見此大光、大地變動及佛身相,心懷猶豫前詣佛所白言:世尊!何因何緣而有此瑞?2)時,喜德佛告喜授言:從此下方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰堪忍,佛號釋迦牟尼,將為菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多,彼佛神力故現斯瑞。3)喜授聞已,歡喜踊躍白言:世尊!我今請往堪忍世界,觀禮供養釋迦牟尼佛及菩薩眾,唯願聽許!時,喜德佛告喜授言:善哉!善哉!隨汝意往。4)即以千莖金色蓮花,其花千葉眾寶莊嚴,授與喜授而誨之曰:汝持此花至釋迦牟尼佛所,如我詞曰:喜德如來致問無量:少病少惱、起居輕利、氣力調和、安樂住不?世事可忍不?眾生易度不?持此蓮花以寄世尊而為佛事。汝至彼界應住正知,勿以慢心觀彼佛土及諸大眾而自毀傷。所以者何?彼諸菩薩威德難及,悲願熏心,以大因緣而生彼土。5)喜授菩薩受花奉勅,與無量百千俱胝那庾多菩薩,及無數百千童男童女,頂禮佛足右繞奉辭,各持無量上妙供具發引而來,所經上方諸佛世界,一一佛所供養恭敬、尊重讚歎無空過者。到此佛所頂禮雙足,繞百千匝却住一面。6)喜授菩薩前白佛言:世尊!從此上方盡殑伽沙等世界,最後世界名曰歡喜,佛號喜德,致問世尊無量:少病少惱、起居輕利、氣力調和、安樂住不?世事可忍不?眾生易度不?持此千莖金色蓮花,以寄世尊而為佛事。7)時,釋迦牟尼佛受此蓮華,還散上方諸佛世界。佛神力故,令此蓮花遍諸佛土,諸花臺中皆有化佛結跏趺坐,為諸菩薩說大般若波羅蜜多,有情聞者必得無上正等菩提。是時,喜授及諸眷屬見此事已,歡喜踊躍歎未曾有,各隨善根供具多少,供養恭敬、尊重讚歎佛菩薩已,退坐一面。餘上方界皆亦如是。

atha khalu tena kṣaṇalavamuhūrtena ayaṃ trisāhasramahāsāhasro lokadhātuḥ saptaratnamayaḥ saṃsthito 'bhūt puṣpābhikīrṇaḥ, avasaktapaṭṭadāmakalāpaḥ kalpavṛkṣair nānālaṅkāraphalāvanatāgraviṭapaiḥ puṣpavṛkṣaiḥ phalavṛkṣair gandhavṛkṣair mālyavṛkṣaiś copaśobhito 'bhūt, tadyathāpi nāma padmāvatī lokadhātuḥ samantakusumasya tathāgatasya buddhakṣetraṃ yatra mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūtaḥ prativasati susthitamatiś ca bodhisattvaḥ, anye ca mahojaskāmahojaskā bodhisattvāḥ, (psp1-1: 28) iti nidānam

221:爾時,一時之頃三千大千國界,其地所有皆成為寶,諸樹草木悉為香華,懸諸幢幡繒綵華蓋,譬如華迹世界普華如來國土、文殊師利、善住意王天子及諸大威神菩薩所處國土,此忍世界所有珍妙亦如彼國。

222:爾時於此三千大千世界,尋即而雨諸寶華香幡蓋,自然莊嚴香樹花樹,譬如蓮華跡世界普華多阿竭、阿羅訶、三耶三佛佛土,溥首菩薩所遊居處。善住意諸天子及餘大神尊勢無極菩薩之眾。

223:爾時,是三千大千國土皆成為寶花遍覆,地懸繒幡蓋,香樹花樹皆悉莊嚴。譬如花積世界普花佛國,妙德菩薩、善住意菩薩及餘大威神諸菩薩皆在彼住。

220:爾時,於此三千大千堪忍世界眾寶充滿,諸妙香花遍布其地,寶幢、幡蓋處處行列,花樹、果樹、香樹、鬘樹、衣樹、寶樹、諸雜飾樹周遍莊嚴甚可愛樂,如眾蓮花世界普花如來淨土,曼殊室利童子、善住慧菩薩及餘無量大威德菩薩摩訶薩本所居土。

Thereupon at that moment, minute and second, this great trichiliocosm became composed of the seven precious substances, and was over-strewn with flowers. Bundles of silken tassels were affixed to it, and it was adorned with Kalpa trees – manifoldly ornamented with branches bending down with fruits – with trees with flowers and fruits, with perfumes and garlands. Just like the world system Padmavati, the Buddha-field of the Tathagata Samantakusuma, where Manjusri the Crown the Prince resides, and the Bodhisattva Susthitamati, and other very powerful Bodhisattvas.
